Chainsaw Sue runs riot in Kerri’s comic Cutts’ Red Nose routine
For salon regulars at Nuneaton’s Cuttsy’s Studio found themselves caught up in a scene that was cross between The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Edward Scissorhands.
Cerebral palsy sufferer Kerri had popped into the Bridge Street, Coton, shop to do her bit for the special day – by having her head shaved, courtesy of salon boss Vanessa Cutts.
But half-way through the sponsored event – the door burst open and a ‘chainsaw-wielding’ crimper took over the operation in what became pure comic Cutts.
Armed with a commercial-sized hedge trimmer, Nuneaton Horticultural’s Sue Austin took the law-n mower into her own hands as she shaped to finish the job.
But in the nick of time, Vanessa persuaded her next door neighbour to use more appropriate implements to restyle Kerri’s head.
The impromptu mad movies’ sequence went down a storm with the shop punters – and £150 was raised in the time it took to say: Watch out Johnny Depp’s about.“We all had a good laugh about it – including Kerri. It was bit of light-hearted fun which helped raise cash for Red Nose Day by lowering Kerri’s hairline,” said Vanessa.
“The Lawn Arranger Sue certainly turned a head shave into a massacre.”
Kerri admitted she’d been wanting to have a head shave on Red Nose Day ever since she was a teenager. “But for whatever reason, I’d never got round to it,” added the 30-year-old Nuneatonian, who has been confined to a wheelchair since she was of toddling age.
